FISHER-PRICE REANNOUNCES RECALL OF 4.7 MILLION ROCK ‘N PLAY SLEEPERS, 100 DEATHS LINKED TO SLEEPERS

Fisher-Price Reannounces Recall of 4.7 Million Rock ‘n Play Sleepers, 100 Deaths Linked to Sleepers

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Fisher-Price have “reannounced” the recall of Fisher Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers, after eight fatalities took place after the initial recall nearly three years ago.

About 4.7 million of the sleepers were sold before the recall was announced in April 2019, and the product was taken off the market, with about 100 deaths now being linked to the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers, according to the CPSC.

“Infant fatalities have occurred in the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers, after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances,” the CPSC said in the recall announcement.

“We are issuing this announcement because, despite their removal from the marketplace and a prohibition on their sale, babies continue to die in these products,” CPSC Chair Alexander Hoehn-Saric said in a statement.

“I urge all parents, grandparents, and caregivers to follow the guidance of this announcement and stop using these products immediately.”

Consumers should stop using the Rock ‘n Play immediately and contact Fisher-Price for a refund or voucher at Fisher-Price online at Rock ‘n Play recall or www.mattel.com and click on “Recall & Safety” or toll-free at 866-812-6518 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for more information. It is illegal to sell or distribute the recalled sleepers.
